Tallulah Willis, the daughter of Demi Moore and Bruce Willis, dropped a bomb on social media when she slipped up and shared a cryptic note about her ex-stepfather Ashton Kutcher – a secret she later revealed should have been “private.”

Before Demi Moore and Bruce Willis ended their 13-year marriage in 2000, the couple had three children, daughters Rumer, 36, Scout, 33, and Tallulah, 31.

Though she’s the youngest of Moore’s kids, Tallulah is a big sister to Mabel, 13, and Evelyn, 10, the children that Emma Heming Willis shares with her husband, who she married in 2009.

Years before Tallulah’s father remarried, her mother exchanged vows with actor Ashton Kutcher, who’s about 15 years younger than The Substance star.

The star of That ‘70s Show wasn’t just smitten – he was all in.

Kutcher plays stepdad

When he tied the knot with the St. Elmo’s Fire actor back in 2005, Kutcher didn’t just become a husband – he also stepped into the role of stepdad to her three daughters like a total champ.

In a 2023 interview with Esquire, Kutcher revealed that when his wife was off filming on location, he played a full-time parent, holding down the fort with school runs, dinners, and all the chaos that comes with a house full of girls.

“I was 26, bearing the responsibility of an 8-year-old, a 10-year-old, and a 12-year-old,” he told the outlet of the iconic Willis siblings, adding that it was “a lot.” “That’s how some teen parents must experience their 20s.”

Even 12 years after Moore, 62, and Kutcher divorced, the star of Punk’d – who now shares two children with his actor wife Mila Kunis – keeps the bond strong with the Willis girls.

“I make a really conscious effort to stay in touch with the girls,” Kutcher said on Marc Maron’s WTF podcast in February 2020. “I love them, and I’m never going to stop loving them, right? And respecting them and honoring them and rooting for them.”

“I was never trying to be their father,” he continued of his relationships with Rumer, Scout and Tallulah, the youngest who was finishing high school when he and Moore divorced. “I always had respect and honored Bruce [Willis], and I think he’s a brilliant human being and a wonderful man. If they don’t want an engagement with me, I’m not going to force it upon them. But they all do and it’s great.”

‘Total dumpster fire’

Despite maintaining a relationship with her ex-stepdad, Tallulah has been very candid about Kutcher, now 47, explaining that she felt “forgotten.”

In 2019, at a Red Table Talk with Moore, Rumer and Scout, she said, “Everyone left the house and it was just me living there.”

Tallulah, who earlier struggled with addiction, added of her mother, “I know that she does [love me], 100%, but in that moment you’re hurt, and you can’t fathom that someone that loves you would do that to you, and would choose others more than you.”

Again in 2023, the woman highlighted the challenges she experienced when Moore was with the star of Two and a Half Men.

“It was like 2003, my mom had just started dating Ashton,” she said at the premiere of Stars on Mars in 2023 (through E! News). “It was a moment, a lot going on and I really went inside of myself, and that did send me into like a total dumpster fire. It was really hard, and I’m still unpacking.”

Tallulah added, “However, I found the other side of that, which is like — I really love myself now, and I love my family. I love my family.”

Blended family

On April 9, actor Gwyneth Paltrow shared an Instagram post promoting her latest Goop episode on being a stepparent.

“I found myself reflecting on the messy, beautiful, and often surprising realities of stepparenting. Of course, I couldn’t have the conversation without the person who’s lived it all with me – my husband, Brad,” she said in the clip, alongside Glee creator Brad Falchuk. When Paltrow, 52, and Falchuk, 54, married in 2018, they blended their families, each becoming a stepparent to the other’s two kids.

In her clip, the Iron Man star continues, “We talk about the missteps, the rituals, and the truths that helped us build a blended family that feels uniquely, imperfectly ours. It’s layered, evolving, and deeply human.”

‘Should have been private’

Offering her expertise, Tallulah dropped a message in the comments section about her familiarity with the topic: “I have a lot to say on this! Especially how to move through an ex-stepparent.”

Looking for clarity on the Idaho-born actor’s remark, a netizen asked, “so [you] mean Ashton Kutcher?”

Quickly regretting her note, the youngest Moore-Willis daughter replied, “This maybe should have been a private message lol but yes I have personal experience with this.”

Soon after, she added, “it’s an important conversation [to be honest] …also no one needs to be bad guy for a situation to be healed. There’s room for everyone.”
