How Terry Bradshaw, an NFL legend, ended up singing at an Oklahoma Brooks & Dunn show
Both country music icon Toby Keith and NFL legend Terry Bradshaw were battling cancer at the same time. Keith tragically died on February 5, 2024, at the age of sixty-two.
Bradshaw now seizes every opportunity to pay tribute to his beloved comrade.

Bradshaw is a retired NFL player and current pundit, but few people know that he is also an actor, country music artist, and horse breeder. He is not new to performing, and he has already sung “Don’t Let the Old Man In,” one of Keith’s most poignant tunes.
After speaking with Clint Eastwood, another well-known buddy, Keith wrote “Don’t Let the Old Man In.” The song ultimately appeared in Eastwood’s 2018 movie The Mule.
The song “Don’t Let the Old Man In” is about growing older and dying.However, it’s also a song about making the most of your life.
The People’s Choice Country Awards in September 2023 were the occasion for Keith’s most memorable rendition of “Don’t Let the Old Man In.” In the end, it was his final appearance on television.
Since then, Bradshaw has given a few performances of “Don’t Let the Old Man In” in Keith’s honor. Kix Brooks of Brooks & Dunn contacted him after he performed a cover of the song in Branson, Missouri, and asked if he would want to perform at one of their next shows.
Bradshaw concurred and unexpectedly showed up for the pair’s most recent performance in Thackerville, Oklahoma.

Bradshaw talked about his relationship with Keith and how they bonded over their separate struggles with cancer as he entered the stage.
However, I would say, ‘Hey, Bud, how are you doing?’ during a conversation with Toby. “Man, one day good, one day bad,” he would say. I have no idea what God has planned for me. “Well, hold on, I’m praying for you,” I added. “I’m praying for you, buddy,” he added.
With songs like “Don’t Let the Old Man In,” Bradshaw want to guarantee Keith’s legacy endures now that he is regrettably no longer with us.”I hope I can do it justice,” Bradshaw told the audience.
Bradshaw gave Keith one final shout-out before the song began, saying, “Toby, I love you, buddy.” I hope you enjoy this song when I sing it.
Bradshaw began his moving rendition of “Don’t Let the Old Man In” onstage with Brooks & Dunn in the background. When he concluded the song, the audience gave him a hearty round of applause and cheers because they were enthralled with every word he sang.
