Candace Cameron Bure has recently found herself under intense media scrutiny. The actress stirred controversy after speaking out in support of “traditional marriage,” a statement that upset many of her fans.

Now, it’s a photo of Bure and her husband that has sparked fresh backlash.

Candace met Valeri Bure at a hockey game back in 1994, and the two quickly fell in love. They married on June 22, 1996, and have been together ever since. Despite nearly three decades of marriage, the couple remains deeply connected and continues to prioritize their relationship.

Bure recently offered fans a playful peek into their marriage through an Instagram story. While she meant it as a lighthearted moment, not everyone found it amusing—some critics took issue with what they considered an inappropriate gesture.

Rather than deleting the photo, Bure stood her ground. She even reposted it to her Facebook page, showing two photos that captured what she described as the “sweet and spicy” dynamic of her relationship. In one of the images, Valeri lovingly wraps his arm around her, with one hand resting on her chest and the other on his own.

Some followers were quick to criticize, calling the image inappropriate for someone known as a “Christian star.” But Bure had a response ready. “If it made you uncomfortable… I’m sorry,” she said with a laugh in a video recap of her Instagram stories, before adding, “I’m not sorry.” She went on to say, “I’m happy we’re still having fun after all these years.”

After 24 years of marriage, Bure proudly called herself a “living example” of what a “healthy and happy marriage” looks like.

In a follow-up Instagram Story, she added: “It makes me laugh because he’s my husband. He can touch me anytime he wants—and I hope he does!”
