A 56-year-old grandmother, who served as a surrogate for her son, has shared her sadness after being separated from the baby.

Nancy Hauck, from Utah, USA, offered to carry her son Jeff’s child after his wife, Cambria, 30, had a traumatic birth with their twins. The couple, deeply grateful, accepted her generous offer, but Nancy found it difficult to part with the newborn after birth.

“I never thought I’d be pregnant at 56 or that this would even be possible, but it’s been the most beautiful experience,” she said.

Jeff and Cambria already had two sets of twins but wanted to grow their family further. Nancy stepped in, undergoing medical tests to ensure she was fit to carry the baby. “I told them I was willing but felt I’d be too old. But to my surprise, the doctors said I was healthy and could do it, and here I am,” Nancy recalled.

After receiving medical approval, the devoted grandmother began hormone treatments, injecting herself daily for 12 weeks. Once the treatment was finished, doctors successfully implanted one of Jeff and Cambria’s embryos into Nancy.

The procedure was a success, and the couple was ecstatic. While the experience wasn’t something Nancy anticipated, it felt familiar. “The pregnancy has been very similar to carrying my son, though I was a bit more nauseous,” she said.

However, letting go of the baby after birth was tough for Nancy. “It’s a mix of deep gratitude and sadness from the separation,” she explained.

Cambria praised Nancy’s selfless act, saying, “She’s sacrificing so much for us, and we feel so grateful. It’s been miraculous and beautiful watching Nancy carry our baby girl.”

Nancy, glowing from the experience, was described as having a “lighthouse glow” during her pregnancy. Jeff also expressed his excitement, saying, “We’re just grateful and excited for the new life coming into our family. Being a dad has always been my dream, and I take my role very seriously. The opportunity to be a dad to another beautiful baby girl is the greatest blessing I could receive.”

The couple is thrilled to welcome their newest addition.
