The key differences between two of the most popular ‘weight loss jabs’ have been explained after multiple celebrities confessed to using them.
Yep, I’m talking about the likes of Ozempic and Mounjaro with the stars such as Jeremy Clarkson, Amy Schumer and James Corden speaking out about using them.
Both of these medicines are primarily used to treat type 2 diabetes but are also known for their weight-loss benefits.
However, only Mounjaro is available in the UK for this kind of treatment with one Brit previously speaking about the astounding impact after using it for three months.
But, like all medications, there are side effects to using both Ozempic and Mounjaro with several celebrities sharing their own experiences with the drugs.
And while there are differences, both injectables contain a GLP-1 receptor agonist which scientists have been discussing.

As mentioned, a key point for Brits is that Mounjaro is approved for weight loss in the UK while Ozempic is only approved for type 2 diabetes – meaning you can only get Mounjaro on prescription for weight loss.
Another difference is that Mounjaro contains tirzepatide while Ozempic contains semaglutide.
As laid out by ASDA’s Online Doctor, aiding weight loss, Mounjaro is used to reduce your appetite, helping you feel fuller for longer while following a healthy eating plan. Ozempic is used to regulate to regulate blood sugar levels by ‘improving how your body uses insulin’.
There is also a difference in the dosage schedule. The maximum dosage for Ozempic is 2mg while it follows a dosage schedule for weight loss, while Mounjaro has a maximum dosage of 15mg.
While they do have key difference, there are similarities between the two medications in that they do help with blood sugar levels, weight loss, are injectable and have similar side effects.

Collins previously took to Instagram to reveal she lost around two stone (12.7kg) while on Mounjaro. Saying she feels like she looks ‘older’, the candid star said she didn’t think she had got ‘Ozempic face yet’.
“I’ve always had a fuller face, as you know,” she said as she begun noticing a change in her appearance.
“I do like expression around my eyes. I want to look natural still. But this just isn’t right. What has happened? I am 44 but this is taking it to levels that I never, ever imagined it’d get to.”

Clarkson previously revealed he had tried out Ozempic for weight loss two years ago but that he’d suffered extreme nausea.
“My body lost the ability to deal with gluttony but once the initial enthusiasm had worn off, my mind still wanted to breakfast on Cadbury Fruit & Nut,” he wrote in his The Times column. “This meant I was sick a lot.”
With nausea a common side effect of Ozempic, he later tried Mounjaro and found better results for his weight loss. Although, he admitted it was a struggle not being able to enjoy his favourite foods.
“You find yourself living a minibar existence,” he wrote, joking that a ‘handful of sunflower seeds’ would be enough to keep him full. “That’s not living. That’s existing.”
Amy Schumer on Ozempic side effects

Similarly to Clarkson, Schumer also said she suffered from nausea while using the medicine.
In a candid health update for fans she previously explained: “I tried Ozempic almost three years ago and I was like, bedridden.
“I was like, vomiting — and then you have no energy. But other people take it and they’re all good.”
Schumer then later shared that she was having a better experience while using Mounjaro instead.
“Three years ago, I tried Wegovy,” the actor said in a social media video. “I was puking, I couldn’t handle it. I don’t know if they’ve changed the formula, whatever.”
She went on to explain that she’d had an online health referral via online midlife health clinic Midi Health and was also feeling the benefits of being prescribed estrogen and progesterone for perimenopause symptoms, she continued: “So that’s been great and Mounjaro’s been great.”
