The situation in the world today, particularly in the United States is that it is politically charged. It seems as if people are taking sides and if you aren’t on their side, they feel there is something wrong with you.
Many people now feel that way about when Stephani, fearing that she has become a ‘right-wing grifter’ they are now referring to her as a ‘MAGA woman’. It happened after Stephani went on Twitter to give kudos to Jonathan Roumie for the interview he gave with Tucker Carlson.
Jonathan Roumie plays the part of Jesus in The Chosen and during the interview, he promoted the Hallow prayer app. This is also something that Gwen Stephani, who is Catholic, has promoted in the past. She shared the post about the interview on March 6.
Along with the share, Gwen wrote: “Wow @JonathanRoumie u r a powerful inspirational human what an what an enlightening intelligent beautiful interview thank you for being u gx.”
After the post went viral on Twitter, people began criticizing it. This is especially because one was promoting the interview.
One fan considered it to be the ‘biggest disappointment’ and another asked if she would delete it. There were some who were trying to be on the fence, saying they know she is a good person but then saying that she was making it difficult for them to meet her halfway.
Others feel that she is now uncool or that their heart is broken now that they read the post. There were some who had a serious opinion, such as the commenter who wrote: ‘I literally can’t comprehend that the same gwen stefani who sang about having sex in the backseat of a car is now supporting conservative right-wing conspiracy theorists who are against her predominantly lgbtq+ fan base.’
Many agree that Gwen is always going to be a pop queen but they also feel that she is going to follow whatever her man is doing. One fan thought that because her husband is now leaning in the MAGA direction, perhaps she is as well.
This is not the first time that Gwen was criticized for partnering with Hallow. She did so during the holiday campaign in 2024 and some people were surprised to find out that she even had a strong religious belief.
One other group of fans was those who came to her defense but it was mostly because she is a Catholic, not because of her political agenda or for promoting the Hallow app.
It’s interesting how quickly things can change.
