Any of us who have ever been in a relationship that has gone south realize that revenge is sometimes considered. We don’t often go that far, however, because of the potential consequences that could exist.

One woman from Brazil, Jordélia Pereira Barbosa is now finding out just how dangerous it can be to get revenge on an ex. She supposedly sent poisoned Easter eggs to their home and now a seven-year-old boy has died.

According to reports, the seven-year-old boy died after eating a poisoned Easter egg that was sent as an act of revenge. Jordélia Pereira Barbosa has been arrested on suspicion of sending those laced chocolate eggs to her boyfriend’s new family.

As a result of the poisoned Easter eggs, two people are in critical condition and a seven-year-old boy has died. Barbosa is accused of buying, spiking, and then having the lethal chocolate eggs sent to her former partner’s girlfriend and family. Police say that she was driven by jealousy and revenge.

The 35-year-old woman was thought to have purchased the Easter eggs from a supermarket and then spiked them before having them delivered to the home. She saw that they were delivered by a motorcycle carrier and added a note that read: “With love, to Mirian Lira. Happy Easter.”

The homeowner then shared the gifts with her children, including a 13-year-old girl and a seven-year-old boy. The boy was said to have gotten sick ‘immediately’ after eating the chocolate eggs and was sent to the Imperatriz City Hospital, where he died within a few hours.

The girl and her mother are still in stable condition at the same hospital, both having to be intubated. Although they have not yet determined the official cause of death while a forensic analysis is taking place, they are looking at the remaining chocolates to see if there was poisoning involved.

Police were able to catch the woman as she was heading home on a bus in Santa Inês on Thursday. They had found a shopping receipt that showed them where she had made the purchase.

The supermarket also supplied CCTV footage that showed the woman wearing a dark wig to cover her blonde hair when she was in the store. After speaking with Barbosa’s ex-boyfriend, he suggested that she may have been involved.

Barbosa did admit to buying the chocolate but she said she did not poison the eggs. Along with the receipts, the police found two wigs, scissors, cards, a saw knife, and unknown substances in her possession.
