It’s always interesting to watch what models do as they become famous and sometimes, entertain us in ways that other people don’t have the opportunity to do. Sometimes, those models are also there for something specific, and that is where Ashley Graham comes in.
Ashley Graham is a well-known plus-size model who promotes body positivity through social media. She is the first plus-size model to have appeared on the cover of the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue and she has done other things that other plus-size models have not done before.
Recently, she also had the opportunity to walk the runway as a Victoria’s Secret Angel. If you’ve ever seen one of these runway performances before, you realize that the models who are typically there are smaller.
Ashley, however, was there to show her curves and she was wearing some revealing lingerie while doing so. It was a daring move on her part, and you would expect that people would be cheering her on from the sidelines.
I’ll be the first one to admit that it would take a lot of effort to walk the runway, regardless of your size. You are essentially bearing almost everything in front of millions of people around the world, and Ashley realized that going in.
Many are now saying that she should not have been on the runway, as it was made for those who are leaner. Ashley is not a lean individual, and she makes no secret of that fact.
In addition, Victoria’s Secret has not been in the forefront of body positivity. They even fired Barbara Palvin in the past because they thought she was too curvy, so many are wondering why they decided on the change of heart.
Even though Ashley Graham was paraded up and down the runway in front of the world, not everybody was happy with her being there. She is a top model, and she is promoting body positivity, but perhaps this wasn’t the best venue to do so.
