Tali’s little skoolie, a converted short school bus, exemplifies how a small space can be transformed into a comfortable, artistic home. This mobile dwelling, known as the Bodhi Bus, is jam-packed with intricate woodworking and inventive design, all of which represent Tali’s passion and enthusiasm for the project.
Despite its small size, the mini skoolie provides comfort and character, serving as Tali’s permanent residence and a symbol of his artistic path. A vision of freedom: The birth of the mini-skoolie Tali grew up on Vancouver Island, surrounded by nature, with a strong yearning for personal space and freedom to explore.
“The main idea behind the bus is to create like a space for myself but then also have the freedom of travel,” he elaborates. This vision of a mobile existence, combined with a longing for a calm sanctuary, inspired him to build the little skoolie.
Tali discovered his ideal canvas in a 1990 Chevy van Dir Thomas school bus advertised on Craigslist for $2,200. Mostly gutted, the bus served as a blank canvas for Tali’s ambitious renovation, paving the way for the start of the small skoolie project.
The Transformation: Five months of hard work and commitment It took five months of hard effort to transform the bus into a completely functional and visually stunning mini-skoolie. Tali chose natural and upcycled materials for aesthetic reasons as well as economic effectiveness.
