Miss Kay Robertson, the beloved matriarch of Duck Dynasty, is going through one of the most heartbreaking chapters of her life — both physically and emotionally.
For months, Kay has been battling serious health issues. Earlier this year, she and her husband, Phil Robertson, were forced to leave their cherished Louisiana home due to medical concerns. While Phil faced complications from Alzheimer’s disease and a blood disorder, Kay suffered a devastating fall that led to a serious infection, requiring hospitalization and rehabilitation.
The couple was even separated during this difficult time — Miss Kay remained in the hospital while Phil recovered at home. Though they were eventually reunited, their health continued to deteriorate.
A Goodbye No One Was Ready For
On May 25, the Robertson family announced the devastating news: Phil Robertson passed away at age 79. His death sparked an outpouring of love and tributes from fans and family across the nation.
Phil was honored in a private family funeral on May 29, where loved ones remembered him for the things he cherished most: faith, family, duck hunting, and his devoted wife Kay. A video of the full service was later shared so fans could join in remembrance.
Miss Kay Showing Signs of Dementia
In a mid-May interview with Us Weekly, their son Willie Robertson revealed that Miss Kay has also been showing symptoms similar to her late husband’s:
“She has shown the same type of symptoms of Alzheimer’s or dementia.”
This news was especially difficult in light of Phil’s passing. A week after his death, Willie gave an emotional update to USA Today:
“Kay is not in the best of health… we’re trying to help her out as much as we can.”
“Some of it is depression. She lost her partner of 60 years.”
A Glimmer of Hope: Miss Kay Attends Church
Although she hasn’t been able to participate in family events like she once did, there was a moment of light. Kay made a brief appearance in the premiere episode of Duck Dynasty: The Revival, which aired on June 1.
That scene was filmed months earlier, and sadly, Miss Kay was unable to attend the official premiere celebration. But her family shared uplifting news: she recently felt well enough to attend a Sunday church service.
Her daughter-in-law, Lisa Robertson (wife of Al), posted a touching update on social media, along with a smiling photo of Miss Kay. The caption read:
“The beautiful Ms. Kay! She was able to attend church today!”
Fans React with Love and Prayers
The update brought joy and relief to fans around the world. Supporters flooded the post with kind words and heartfelt prayers:
🕊️ “Bless her precious heart. So glad she has her family around her.”
🕊️ “We love you Miss Kay. You are not alone.”
🕊️ “Continued prayers for comfort, strength, and peace.”
In Closing: A Time for Healing
Miss Kay’s journey is a reminder of how deeply grief can affect the body and soul — especially after a love that lasted more than six decades. With the support of her large, loving family, and the prayers of thousands of fans, she’s taking one step at a time toward healing.
We continue to send our love and blessings to Miss Kay and the entire Robertson family.
