Iran fired a volley of short- and medium-range ballistic missiles at Qatar’s Al Udeid Air Base, prompting serious concern across the region. Thankfully, no U.S. casualties have been reported, with defense officials confirming the base had been mostly cleared of aircraft in advance due to rising tensions with Iran.
Qatar’s air defenses successfully intercepted the missiles, according to the country’s defense ministry. A spokesperson emphasized that the swift response prevented damage and ensured all military personnel remained safe. U.S. officials had anticipated retaliation following recent American strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities.
The Iranian government claimed the missile barrage was a proportional response, targeting military areas to avoid civilian harm. U.S. forces had also relocated naval vessels from Bahrain as a precaution ahead of the attack.
President Trump, speaking hours later, ignored the missile strike in his first remarks and instead focused on attacking media outlets for downplaying the success of U.S. strikes on Iran. Meanwhile, the White House confirmed Trump remains in close consultation with national security leaders as tensions in the region remain high.
