This man was 2 meters and 72 centimeters tall, making him the tallest person to ever live on Earth. 😱 He stood out immensely among ordinary people — even his shoe size was 93! 🤔 Because of his height, he hardly felt pain in his legs, and his clothes had to be specially tailored. 😱
What his parents, brothers, and sisters looked like is shown in the article below the photo 👇👇
When Robert Pershing Wadlow was only six years old, he had already reached a height of 1.70 meters — like an adult man. By the age of 16, he was an incredible 2.44 meters tall.
Yet his whole family was of average height, and nothing in his childhood predicted such an extraordinary future.
Robert was diagnosed with a rare condition — pituitary gigantism. His pituitary gland produced an excessive amount of growth hormone.
Today, such conditions are treated with medication, but in the early 20th century, no effective treatments existed. Wadlow’s body continued growing throughout his life.
Despite physical difficulties and constant attention from others, Robert remained a kind and friendly person with a great sense of humor.
He was fully aware of the public’s fascination with him, but he never showed anger — not even towards those who laughed at him.
One of the audience’s favorite pastimes was comparing their feet to his — Robert wore size 93 shoes, which never failed to shock and amaze.
Because of his height, his body was under enormous strain, especially his legs. He had to wear a heavy metal brace to support his lower body.
This brace caused blisters on his legs, but Robert hardly felt them — his feet lacked sensation. That’s why someone was always with him to regularly check his feet for injuries.
But one day, during a trip between cities, that person couldn’t be with him. An unnoticed sore on his foot led to a serious infection.
About a week after the infection, Robert Wadlow died of sepsis, accompanied by a high fever. He was only 22 years old.
Robert went down in history as the tallest human to have ever lived — at the time of his death, he stood 2 meters and 72 centimeters tall.
