Eyebrows have become the ultimate beauty canvas, and it’s no surprise. A quick scroll through social media reveals an astonishing array of brow trends, from unicorn horns to Nike swooshes and even fishtail styles.
Just when you thought you had seen everything, the quirky halo brows made their debut…
Like many unusual beauty trends, halo brows are a product of the wonderfully eccentric realm of social media. Platforms such as TikTok and Instagram have turned into the perfect incubators for trends that defy conventional beauty standards.
Halo brows – a halo-shaped arc that spans your forehead, linking both brows into a single loop – were invented by Hannah Lyne, a 16-year-old influencer from Britain, whose new doodles went viral almost immediately.
“So my friend and I were discussing the fishtail brow trend, and that’s when we came up with this,” Lyne wrote in the Instagram post where she unveiled the design that left many excited yet puzzled.
In an interview with Pop Sugar, the beauty blogger clarified that it wasn’t a joke and that the “look was inspired by fishtail brows.”
“I was chatting with a friend, brainstorming a fresh idea for a look, and suddenly it hit me that I should connect my brow tails,” she explained.
Further elaborating on her concept with Yahoo Style, Lyne expressed, “I just want everyone to embrace their silly side and try out weird, creative looks!”
‘Absurd’ trend
As is common with many trends that emerge on social media, halo brows elicited a wave of mixed responses.
Some Instagram users appeared to adore the design and commended Lyne’s creativity: “I love it!” exclaimed one user, while another commented: “All of your looks are so original…Honestly your talent is limitless!”
“How on Earth do you generate your ideas? They are so imaginative, and you always bring them to life so effectively! You have such incredible talent,” says a third person.
However, most internet users were quick to label the new unibrow as a “silly” trend.
“Vomits Uncontrollably,” comments one user on Lyne’s Instagram post. “I can’t tell if she’s serious,” adds another, while a third remarks, “Instagram? More like Instaregret.”
In contrast, others claimed she appears “absurd” and suggested they are “leaving Instagram because of this picture.”
Cosmopolitan referred to the “heavenly halo brows” as “strangely beautiful.”
“Get ready to discover the unique and stunning artistry of arch,” the magazine states about the looped eyebrows.
Even if you’re not a fan of this style, it’s exciting to watch makeup artists explore various ways to shape their eyebrows – whether they have one or two.
