The Hawk Tuah girl has had more than a few bumps in the road, according to social media users. Now, with reports surfacing that she’s sold her social media account, it feels like the right moment to take a closer look at everything that’s happened.

Known by many online as the Hawk Tuah girl, Hailey Welch quickly shot to viral fame. She built an impressive following, started several ventures, and then saw it all begin to fall apart over the past year.

It all kicked off back in June 2024 when content creators Tim & Dee TV put out a video chatting with women enjoying nights out with drinks in hand. One moment in that video sparked a viral storm.

In the clip, Haliey Welch was asked what makes a guy completely lose it in bed. Her response? “You gotta hawk tuah and spit on that thing.”

That one unforgettable answer sent her internet stardom soaring. She began selling merch, picked up a massive online following, and even started trying her hand at new business ideas.

Now, an account believed to be run either by Welch or her team — called HawkCoinX  has reportedly been sold to someone else.

The page had nearly 400,000 followers — to be exact, 396,300. Though we don’t yet know who bought it, the account name was changed to ‘Up Only Memes’. A screenshot was even shared showing the buyer offered a hefty $325,000 to take it over.

While this move is definitely a big one for Welch, fans seem split. Some are happy for her success, while others aren’t impressed. And honestly, this isn’t the first controversial decision she’s made.

She also launched a memecoin that ended in disaster — leaving some people with major financial losses.

In December last year, Welch introduced her very own cryptocurrency called $HAWK. At first, it grabbed attention fast. But as reported by Crypto Times, the coin’s value took a sharp nosedive shortly after launch.

The token was never officially registered with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). And within just hours, Bloomberg Law said the coin’s value dropped by more than 90 percent — a major blow for early investors.

Some followers shared their frustrations online, claiming they had lost their life savings. Welch later said she was cooperating with authorities to help get to the bottom of what went wrong.

Later in 2024, the SEC stepped in and launched a formal investigation into the situation. But according to Welch’s attorney, she wouldn’t be facing any charges as a result.

Her lawyer explained: “The SEC closed the investigation without making any findings against, or seeking any monetary sanctions from, Haliey.”

“Because they did not bring any action against her, there are no restrictions on what she can do in regards to crypto or securities in the future.”

She also launched a podcast

Once her online fame really took off and her name was everywhere on social media, in the press, and beyond — Welch decided to try something new: starting her own podcast.

She shared in a clip posted to Twitter: “Along the way I realized that everybody’s entitled to their own opinion. Well now, it’s my time to talk.”

Welch officially introduced her podcast called Talk Tuah — a clever nod to the viral moment that put her on the map.

“I’m sitting down with the coolest guests and having actual conversations with them.” she explained.

The show was developed in partnership with Jake Paul’s media company, Betr, and made its debut on September 10. Since then, it’s released new episodes each week.

The guest list for the podcast was pretty impressive too. It was expected to include people like comedian Whitney Cummings, Canadian internet personality Josh Richards, and even Jake Paul himself.

After the backlash from her crypto controversy, Welch stepped back for a bit. But she made her public return on May 2, appearing at a Celebrity Poker Tour (CPT) event hosted at ARIA’s PokerGO Studio in Las Vegas.

Welch competed in the poker match, which had a $10,000 prize up for grabs. The event also featured several well-known names — including streamer Alexandra Botez, former MLB player Jose Canseco, NFL athlete Adrian Peterson, UFC fighter Mackenzie Dern, and influencers like CJ So Cool and Suede Brooks.

During the game, Welch opened up about what’s on her mind. She shared that she’s been thinking about the road ahead and where she wants to go next.

“I’m in the middle of rebranding right now.” she said at the table. “I’ve had a lot of time to think. I want to rebrand.”

As for her next move? She kept things mysterious and simply said: “I guess you’ll have to watch and see.”

She made a comeback video that many called ‘tone deaf’

After stepping away from social media for a while, Welch reappeared with a dramatic video that rubbed a lot of people the wrong way. In the clip, she tried to mark her return by addressing rumors and speculation about her disappearance.

It starts with her appearing to be asleep. Then a series of voiceovers come in, talking about false stories regarding her supposed death.

“The ‘Hawk Tuah Girl’ has died.” one of the voiceovers says as the video plays.

Then Welch suddenly ‘wakes up’ from what seems like a dream sequence.

Moments later, she drifts back to sleep, and another rumor starts up — this time suggesting she might be pregnant.

In the video, she appears wearing a fake baby bump and rinses out a child’s sippy cup. While that’s happening, fake news headlines flash across the screen.

There’s even a clip of Joe Rogan, where he’s heard asking: “What’s going on with that ‘Hawk Tuah’ chick? Is she going to jail?” as Welch pretends to be behind bars.

Many viewers were upset, calling the video ‘tone deaf,’ especially considering that some people lost serious money investing in her failed crypto coin. Right now, it seems like forgiveness from the public is still a long way off.
