Known by many online as the Hawk Tuah girl, Hailey Welch quickly shot to viral fame. She built an impressive following, started several ventures, and then saw it all begin to fall apart over the past year.
It all kicked off back in June 2024 when content creators Tim & Dee TV put out a video chatting with women enjoying nights out with drinks in hand. One moment in that video sparked a viral storm.
That one unforgettable answer sent her internet stardom soaring. She began selling merch, picked up a massive online following, and even started trying her hand at new business ideas.
Now, an account believed to be run either by Welch or her team — called HawkCoinX has reportedly been sold to someone else.
While this move is definitely a big one for Welch, fans seem split. Some are happy for her success, while others aren’t impressed. And honestly, this isn’t the first controversial decision she’s made.
She also launched a memecoin that ended in disaster — leaving some people with major financial losses.

The token was never officially registered with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). And within just hours, Bloomberg Law said the coin’s value dropped by more than 90 percent — a major blow for early investors.
Some followers shared their frustrations online, claiming they had lost their life savings. Welch later said she was cooperating with authorities to help get to the bottom of what went wrong.
Her lawyer explained: “The SEC closed the investigation without making any findings against, or seeking any monetary sanctions from, Haliey.”
“Because they did not bring any action against her, there are no restrictions on what she can do in regards to crypto or securities in the future.”

Once her online fame really took off and her name was everywhere on social media, in the press, and beyond — Welch decided to try something new: starting her own podcast.
She shared in a clip posted to Twitter: “Along the way I realized that everybody’s entitled to their own opinion. Well now, it’s my time to talk.”
“I’m sitting down with the coolest guests and having actual conversations with them.” she explained.
The show was developed in partnership with Jake Paul’s media company, Betr, and made its debut on September 10. Since then, it’s released new episodes each week.
After the backlash from her crypto controversy, Welch stepped back for a bit. But she made her public return on May 2, appearing at a Celebrity Poker Tour (CPT) event hosted at ARIA’s PokerGO Studio in Las Vegas.

During the game, Welch opened up about what’s on her mind. She shared that she’s been thinking about the road ahead and where she wants to go next.
As for her next move? She kept things mysterious and simply said: “I guess you’ll have to watch and see.”

After stepping away from social media for a while, Welch reappeared with a dramatic video that rubbed a lot of people the wrong way. In the clip, she tried to mark her return by addressing rumors and speculation about her disappearance.
It starts with her appearing to be asleep. Then a series of voiceovers come in, talking about false stories regarding her supposed death.
Then Welch suddenly ‘wakes up’ from what seems like a dream sequence.
Moments later, she drifts back to sleep, and another rumor starts up — this time suggesting she might be pregnant.
There’s even a clip of Joe Rogan, where he’s heard asking: “What’s going on with that ‘Hawk Tuah’ chick? Is she going to jail?” as Welch pretends to be behind bars.
Many viewers were upset, calling the video ‘tone deaf,’ especially considering that some people lost serious money investing in her failed crypto coin. Right now, it seems like forgiveness from the public is still a long way off.
