Myanmar was the location of a 7.7 magnitude earthquake, but the damage wasn’t confined to the epicenter. In nearby Bangkok, Thailand, the earthquake also caused considerable destruction.

Many buildings were swaying during the tremor, which was large and some did not survive the shaking. This included a building under construction in Bangkok, which collapsed, causing the entire skyscraper to crash to the ground.

Onlookers had taken a video and it shows the huge building straining to stay up during the time that the ground is moving. The building wasn’t complete, so it collapsed.

In the video of the construction site in the Chatuchak district, you can see people trying to get away desperately as the skyscraper was preparing to fall. It then collapsed into a pile of dust and rubble.

Police from Bangkok spoke to the Associated Press and said that officers were responding at the scene. They weren’t sure how many people were working on the construction site when the incident occurred.

BBC did not report any casualties as a result, but it is thought that 43 construction workers were missing after the 30-story building collapsed. Seven workers were able to escape the area but 43 others continue to be trapped in the rubble.

The security police chief for Bang Sue district, Worapat Sukthai said: “When I arrived to inspect the site, I heard people calling for help, saying help me.”

The earthquake struck Bangkok on March 28 at 1:30 PM local time. Alarms were activated and people began evacuating buildings into the street.

Additional damage has also occurred, including the collapse of the Ava Bridge in Myanmar. In another video, the Bangkok Tower building’s rooftop pool was splashing down the side of the building as the earthquake was ongoing.

The fire services department in Myanmar said that there is an active search for casualties throughout the city. They reported: “We have started the search and going around Yangon to check for casualties and damage. So far, we have no information yet.”

According to Thailand’s Department of Disaster Prevention, the earthquake in Myanmar was felt in almost all regions of the country. There is no official report on how much damage was caused because there is an ongoing civil war in the country. Some religious shrines in homes in the capital of Naypyidaw were said to be affected.
