Enjoy the Outdoors—Without the Bugs!

Sunshine, beach days, and picnics are some of the best parts of warm weather—but unfortunately, so are pesky insects like mosquitoes, flies, and midges. While store-bought repellents are easy to find, they often contain harsh chemicals that many prefer to avoid.

If you’re looking for a safer, more natural alternative, this homemade insect repellent is a perfect choice.

Why Go Natural?
Full Control Over Ingredients: When you make it yourself, you know exactly what’s in it—no hidden chemicals or synthetic additives.

Budget-Friendly: Most of the ingredients are inexpensive and might already be in your pantry or easily found at a local store.

Eco-Conscious: Using natural ingredients helps reduce the environmental footprint caused by producing and disposing of commercial sprays.

What You’ll Need:
½ cup Witch Hazel

½ cup Apple Cider Vinegar

deet free insect repellent - natural midge repellent - deet free skin

40 drops of essential oils (choose from citronella, eucalyptus, lavender, lemon, or tea tree)

Instructions:
Combine the witch hazel and apple cider vinegar in a clean spray bottle.

Add 40 drops of your chosen essential oils. (Citronella and lemon are great for mosquitoes, eucalyptus deters flies, and lavender helps keep midges away.)

Shake well before each use.

Spray directly on exposed skin and clothing. For your face, spray onto your hands first, then gently pat on—avoiding the eyes and mouth.

Reapply every 2–3 hours as needed.

Now you’re ready to enjoy the great outdoors—naturally protected and chemical-free!
