Something about my ex-husband Aaron’s engagement didn’t sit right with me. I didn’t expect to care, but when I realized who his fiancée was, I knew I had to speak up. At work, one of my servers, Lindsey, showed off her engagement ring. When I asked if she wasn’t still with Leo—our kitchen staff—she casually admitted she was, and that the engagement was a scam. The plan: marry a rich man, divorce him quickly, and split the money with Leo.
Later that night, Aaron told me he was getting married—to Lindsey. I tried to warn him, but he accused me of jealousy and stormed off.
