A social media influencer known as Guava Beauty has died at the age of 24. Her real name was Guava Shuishui, and she gained attention online for tasting beauty products during her reviews.
Guava, who was from Taiwan, built a large following on Instagram with videos where she tried makeup products in unusual ways. Often, she would use the item as intended and then take a bite of it, shocking many of her viewers.
She became known for this strange twist on mukbang videos, a genre where creators eat on camera. While most mukbang creators eat large amounts of food, Guava stood out by eating items like lipstick, blush, face masks, and even cotton pads.
On May 24, a post was made to her Instagram account stating that she had passed away due to a “sudden illness.” No other details were given about the cause of death.
Her family shared a statement, writing, “Although this came suddenly, Shuishui held on to every moment just like she has always been – hard-working, serious, and shining. Thank you to everyone who has liked, left a message, and laughed with her, and thank you for your love and support. She really kept it in her heart and cherished it very much.”
They added, “Guava Shuishui simply continues to glow in a different place. When we meet again one day, she should be unboxing angels’ exclusive makeup for eating broadcasts.”
Her Instagram bio was also updated. It now reads: “Logging out from the world. Setting off on a new journey. All business collaborations are suspended.”
While her videos were often playful, Guava also warned viewers that children under six should not watch her content. She didn’t want young fans to copy her behavior and eat products that aren’t safe.
As of now, the exact cause of her death has not been confirmed.
