I know what you’re thinking. It sounds totally impossible. But yes, this bizarre and surprising story is, somehow, absolutely real.
Daisy Link, who’s currently locked up at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center in West Miami-Dade, was convicted of second-degree murder back in 2022 and has been behind bars since then.
The whole strange story of how this happened was first shown in a simulation video by @vividpoet_, which later went viral after spreading across social media platforms.
Apparently, Link and Depaz started chatting through the prison’s air vents. What began as casual conversation grew into something much deeper. They ended up talking every night, forming a bond that helped them both get through their isolation.

As explained in the viral simulation, the two inmates eventually decided they wanted to have a child together. The obvious obstacle? They weren’t allowed to be in the same room, let alone have physical contact.
Link explained in an interview with WSVN that you can actually hear people from other floors by knocking on the vents. She said that after being in isolation for so long, you end up spending hours chatting through those vents. Over time, it started to feel like she and Depaz were sitting right next to each other.

Now, you’re probably wondering—how did they pull this off? Well, let’s just say they got very creative with their approach.
According to Link, Depaz would collect his semen and put it in a piece of plastic. He’d do this multiple times a day—sometimes five times daily for a whole month. Then he’d wrap it up carefully, almost like a cigarette, and tie it to the string line they had threaded through the vent system.
So while the two inmates truly never had any direct physical contact, Link eventually became pregnant.
“We estimate that probably their chances were less than five percent, but that is not to say that the chances were zero. So this is absolutely a case that is exceedingly unusual. To my knowledge I’ve never heard or read anything like this.” he explained.
