It might be time for fans to tell Amber Heard to ‘break a leg’ because she’s back with a big update on her career.

The 39-year-old actress from Texas has kept a pretty low profile in recent years, especially after the widely publicized legal battle with her ex-husband Johnny Depp.

Following her loss in the high-stakes defamation trial in 2022, she quietly left Hollywood behind and moved to Madrid. Reports even suggest she changed her name to blend in more naturally with the local community.

In May this year, she also shared that she had welcomed twins via social media. She’s now a mom to a little boy and girl, in addition to her four-year-old daughter, Oonagh Paige.

Since the trial wrapped up, fans have caught occasional glimpses into her new life, but we haven’t really seen her back on screen in quite some time.

Her most recent acting credits came in 2023, when she starred in the thriller In The Fire by Conor Allyn and also returned as Mera in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.

Since then, Heard has taken what seems to be a lengthy break from acting. But now, that seems to be changing.

The London Fields star just revealed that she’s entering a brand new ‘era’ following the whirlwind she’s experienced over the past few years.

Heard confirmed her return to the stage on Monday via Instagram, where she posted a selfie alongside playwright Jeremy O. Harris. She’s been cast in his latest work, Spirit of the People.

In the light-hearted photo, she’s grinning and sticking her tongue out. Alongside the picture, she wrote: “In my theatre era.”

She’ll be joining Brandon Flynn and Lío Mehiel in the production, which is set to open at the 2025 Williamstown Theatre Festival in Massachusetts next month.

According to the official synopsis, Spirit of the People explores difficult truths surrounding land and the consequences of its destruction.

Jeremy O. Harris shared that a good portion of the script is actually written in Spanish. Interestingly, he admitted he doesn’t speak the language himself, but given Heard’s time living in Madrid, she’s likely picked up quite a bit.

“I wanted to challenge myself.” Harris told Variety. “The play is half in Spanish, and I don’t speak Spanish.”

The mother-of-three confirmed the news of her role in Harris’ play with a playful Instagram selfieInstagram/@amberheard
“The play has a significant level of prose within it.” he added. “I’m not a prose writer. I’m trying a lot of different things.”

Fans seem genuinely excited to see Heard on stage again. One person shared their enthusiasm on X, writing: “Amber Heard getting casted in a play and posting again. The world is healing.”

Someone else commented about her selfie with Harris: “This photo just added 10 years onto my life.”

A third fan chimed in with: “I’m so proud of her. Oh my God, I’m so happy…She’s back in business, she’s back!”

And another added: “Amber Heard is slowly but surely getting her life back.”

Meanwhile, in a recent explosive interview, Johnny Depp opened up about why he pursued legal action against Heard.

He referred to himself as a ‘crash test dummy’ for the MeToo movement while discussing the case.
