25-year-old Radhika Yadav was fatally shot while she was making breakfast in the kitchen of her family’s luxurious duplex home in Gurugram, just outside Delhi.

Her father, 49-year-old Deepak Yadav, allegedly fired five shots from his legally owned revolver. Police reports state that three of those bullets struck Radhika in the back.

The shocking incident, which unfolded shortly after 10:30 a.m., has left people across the country shaken and heartbroken.

After the shooting, Radhika’s uncle and cousin rushed her to the nearest hospital, hoping to save her. But sadly, doctors pronounced her dead on arrival.

Authorities say that Mr. Yadav later admitted to the shooting. He told investigators that he had been feeling depressed and under intense emotional stress after being mocked by people in their village. They ridiculed him for relying on Radhika’s achievements and income.

In the weeks leading up to the incident, tensions in the family had escalated. He had pleaded with his daughter to close the tennis academy she had worked hard to open. But she stood her ground and refused to give up on her dream.

Police investigating the case revealed that just before the fatal shooting, a serious argument broke out between Radhika and her father. It happened inside their home located in Sushant Lok Sector 57, one of the most affluent neighborhoods in Gurugram.

Radhika’s uncle, Kuldeep, lives on the lower floor of the same house. He said he was startled by a loud noise and immediately ran upstairs, where he found Radhika lying on the floor, surrounded by blood.

He also noticed that the revolver had been left behind in the drawing room.

Speaking to the police, he said: “We carried her down and rushed her to Asia Maringo Hospital in our car. But she was already gone.”

According to sources, Radhika was shot while she was still in the middle of preparing breakfast. Three of the five bullets fired hit her in the back, causing fatal injuries.

At the time of the incident, only Radhika, her father, and her mother, Manju, were at home. Her younger brother wasn’t there.

Kuldeep later filed the official complaint that led to Mr. Yadav’s arrest.

He also stated: “I saw my niece Radhika Yadav lying in the kitchen and the revolver (used in the crime) was found in the drawing room.”

Although Radhika’s mother was present in the house during the shooting, she has not yet provided a full statement about what happened.

Police say she told them she was feeling unwell and had stayed in her room while the tragedy unfolded.

Authorities have collected the revolver used in the killing, along with live rounds and other forensic evidence from the scene.

Mr. Yadav has now been formally charged under multiple provisions of the Indian Penal Code, including murder and unlawful possession of a weapon.

Radhika had proudly represented Haryana at national-level tennis competitions. She had recently opened her own tennis academy to train and inspire the next generation of players.

She was widely recognized as a rising tennis talent and had even featured in a recent promotional video that earned praise across social media.

However, it seems that her father had become resentful of her increasing fame and self-reliance over time.

Police say Mr. Yadav confessed that he was tired of being mocked by villagers in Wazirabad. They accused him of doing nothing while enjoying the benefits of his daughter’s success.

He reportedly kept asking Radhika to shut down the tennis academy, but she continued to push forward with her plans.

Eventually, sources say the ridicule and pressure became too much for him to handle, and he snapped in a moment of rage.

Friends and those close to Radhika describe her as a warm, determined young woman. She had overcome gender-based challenges from a young age and had worked incredibly hard to earn her place in the world of tennis.

The investigation into the case is still underway. In the meantime, Mr. Yadav remains in police custody and is expected to stand trial later this year.
