In recent times, a few stories have emerged about conjoined twins getting married. Just a while back, Abby Hensel made headlines when she tied the knot, with her conjoined sister Brittany right there beside her.
And now, there’s more exciting news—Carmen Andrade, a content creator known for openly sharing her life as a conjoined twin, has revealed that she recently got married to her longtime boyfriend, Daniel McCormack, in a private ceremony.
“We eloped in October with our families.” Carmen shared with TODAY on July 10.
They exchanged vows on Lover’s Leap Bridge, which crosses over the Housatonic River in New Milford. Carmen’s conjoined twin sister, Lupita, was right by her side during the ceremony.

“I did not wear white.” Carmen said. “Don’t regret it. I don’t like white. That’s not my thing.”
Daniel, who is 28, coordinated his look with Carmen by wearing a dark suit and a matching emerald green bow tie. He also had a sunflower boutonniere, which complemented Carmen’s beautiful bouquet of flowers perfectly.
That’s because the two of them had decided to keep their wedding a secret until now.
“We should probably also address something else pretty big.” Carmen said during a video on her YouTube channel. “I did get married.”
To avoid any confusion, Carmen made it clear that her husband is married to her, not to both of them.
Daniel appeared in the video too and explained that they tied the knot seven months ago. They kept it small and simple with just family present, mainly because he’s not a big fan of huge weddings that involve distant relatives.
As for Lupita, she’s not looking to get married. She identifies as both asexual and aromantic, and she’s not interested in being in a romantic relationship.
In the video, she explained: “I don’t want to get married.”
They’ve both talked before about how their conjoined situation works. They mentioned that most people have never met conjoined twins and described their condition. They are connected at the torso and share a pelvis.
They also shared that they each have their own heart and separate brains, which makes them two individuals physically joined in some areas but with their own identities.

When it comes to dating, Carmen and Lupita have very different views and experiences.
Carmen talked about meeting her husband on the dating app Hinge. She admitted that she found it awkward at first to mention that she’s a conjoined twin in her dating profile.
She went on to explain that because she’s conjoined with Lupita, her relationship with Daniel doesn’t include physical intimacy.
“We’re not intimate in that way, and he’s OK with that.” she added.
Still, Carmen knew from early on that Daniel was someone special.
“I knew right off the bat that Daniel was different from the others, because he didn’t lead with a question about my condition.” she recalled during the TODAY interview. “I have social anxiety, and I’ve ended up canceling dates at the last minute, but I felt calm on the way there.”
