Former President Joe Biden has been called out by social media users after posting what was supposed to be a wholesome Easter family photo.
The 82-year-old shared a photo on X (formerly Twitter) featuring himself alongside his wife, Jill, their children, their spouses, and his grandchildren.
He extended well-wishes to his 38 million followers and hoped they enjoyed “a peaceful and joyful Easter.”
Even Willow Biden, his adopted gray shorthair tabby cat, made an appearance for the shot.
In the picture, Biden is seen smiling and sitting at the top of a staircase, dressed in a navy suit, with a diagonally striped blue tie and white shirt.
Notably absent from the photo was his son Hunter Biden, but that wasn’t what had the people talking. Instead, users zeroed in on the former president himself and asked: Was he even really there?
Critics quickly pointed out inconsistencies in the image, questioning everything from Biden’s lighting to his posture.
“I mean this is obviously photoshopped right? Is he supposed to be standing? Crouching down? This doesn’t even look like a plausible physically position guys,” one user wrote.
Another questioned: “Why is Biden wearing a full suit and tie and TV makeup for this loving family photo?” while a third added: “Dude, all politics aside, this is so bizarre. I don’t understand the spacial arrangement of Joe in this picture. Everyone in the back row of the photo *except Joe* appears to be sitting. So why isn’t he towering over them? Are we supposed to believe he’s sitting or something?”
Even the former first lady’s hair became part of the photo frenzy, with users noting its seemingly altered appearance where her husband’s suit meets her shoulder.
“This is Photoshop. I recognize the attempt to blend Jill’s hair into Biden’s suit from when I was in Art school,” one person penned. “Is your forearm 4ft long? With your arm at that angle, it’s physically impossible for those to be your fingers. Who the hell is doing this crappy Photoshop job?” a second quipped.
Despite the flurry of speculation, not everyone was convinced the image had been tampered with.
One person offered a tempered take: “I don’t think Biden was actually photoshopped into this pic (the hand is on the guy’s back in front of him), but he still looks as photoshopped as they come. If they were gonna photoshop him in, they would definitely have made it look less obvious.”
The online sleuthing comes in the wake of ongoing debates about Biden’s physical and cognitive health.
Throughout his presidency, White House officials consistently maintained that Biden was in good health. However, his widely criticized performance during the 2024 presidential debate against President Donald Trump raised fresh concerns about his fitness for office.
Following the Democrats’ loss in the November election, the 82-year-old largely retreated from the public spotlight. He made his first significant post-presidency appearance last week in Chicago, where he delivered a speech on Social Security.
During his speech, Biden accused Trump, 78, and his Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) counterpart, Elon Musk, of dismantling the program, per The Independent.
He claimed the duo had “taken a hatchet” to the Social Security system and described the resulting impact as a “breathtaking” level of damage and destruction to the country.
